I thought a lot about how to approach this project and whether to go with a more standard narrative approach or something entirely abstract. I’ve focused pretty heavily on darker topics/horror for this class. For this project I want to create something similar to a Pokemon story/battle but with very over the top, absurd twists. My idea will be primarily humor focused, at least for me, using some absurdism. I plan on making a lot of references to games I play, shows I’ve watched, and books/manga that I have read. I think the general flow will be generic and straightforward. I plan to implement the twists into the items so that I can change the ending result by a higher degree. The website aspect will be pretty limiting so choices in this case will come from choosing a starting partner, attack choices and items. I still need to look into what I can do on the website to decide further how to approach and make this idea smoother without hindering the delivery of the turn-based battle concept. As for references and easter eggs, some of them will be really obvious and some of them not so much. There will be parts that deviate from the standard battle scene as part of 2 possible endings. I think most of my work will be done in photoshop to piece together scenes, although really simply. There will only be 3 possible good endings under the right approach/use of items. I have yet to draw up a clearer storyboard but I have a pretty solid idea of where this idea is going.
