My project was themed around horror. I feel that I did manage to capture that idea but the final result was still pretty disappointing. I already knew what issues I needed to tackle in my composition, primarily having more variety of sounds, making each section more distinct, and having a chorus or climax. The critique comments really drove these points home. Although there were quite a few things that I did manage to figure out, there were still plenty that I wish I had more time to flesh out. I spent most of my time figuring out how to develop the sound effects I wanted and not having a solid base tone made things a lot more difficult. Additionally, my attempt at making a shepard's tone ended pretty poorly because I wasn’t able to determine the full octave range of the sounds I had. I wanted something more jarring and visceral but the ideas didn’t come to me when I was working on it. I simply found an alright stopping point where I had something that worked but not necessarily something that I was satisfied with. Being someone who plays and enjoys horror games, being able to get an idea of how things are produced was really interesting. Aside from time issues, next time I would definitely increase the volume of certain sections and perhaps even extend them. Having a lack of loud sudden noises definitely took away from the experience I was going after. I also knew that there would be issues with changing the output source and wasn’t able to take that into consideration when adjusting the volume of each track. Towards the end I had already sunk about 7-8 hours figuring out sound effects and chains I wanted to include so while I am not satisfied, I do think I reached my goal of depicting a scene out of something like Resident Evil.
